picnic cakes, ice water, birthdays, and craftiness

so i have alot to catch up on, and i am so tired, so please bear with me. to start off, a couple weeks ago my dear mom came up. she really wanted to just see jaxon, but i was a side note too. she also brought up some date crystals that we make into a oh-so wonderful cake. the picnic cake. it's a receipe from my grandma, and i am not sure if it has been passed down for lots of generations, but it's just a dang good cake.

fast forward a few days... or a week (i am not sure) to ice water. it is really starting to get cold outside when you go outside to bring your dog in and you happen to look in her water dish, just to find that there is no water... but ice!!! it was still daylight hours too!! i couldn't believe, well i could believe, that just in a span of a few hours that libby's water would turn to ice. i think it had only been like three or four hours since i last checked her water dish, and even put new water in it for her. wow!

on to birthdays... saturday the 15th was my 26th birthday. wow, i feel old. not really, but i do. i have such a great husband and wonderful friends! on wednesday the 12th, tony and i met one of my very good friends, ashley and her sister jessica, in salt lake for dinner. you see her birthday was on the 5th, so we are ten days apart, and have known each other for about 16 years. any way, we went to this place called "BuCa Di BePpO" or something like that. it was this crazy good italian place. the food was amazing and our waiter was a little off, but it was a hoot! and i also got to see this guy that i worked with at dillards in st. george! how crazy! and to make things crazier... his cousins live right next door to ashley's family in brigham!!! how small a world! it was great to see devin, and have a quick catch-up.

then to give a shout out to all my lyman friends! thank you so much for a great day on saturday! i have two good friends that took me to ogden to go shopping. we had other things to do besides me shopping, but they made me feel so special! thanks kimberly and megan! i would be lost without you guys up here! megan's husband also came along, so i am pretty sure he felt like a polygamous husband! they took me to dinner at the "TexaS rOaDhOuSe". and bless their hearts, we had to wait 60 minutes to get in! but it was so much fun, and totally worth it to me! it goes justin, megan, me, and kimberly.

ok, so now on the "martha stewart" side of me (or just me plain craftiness). i have all of a sudden been way into crafts. i love to make things and put things together and so on. my girl, kimberly (from above) moved into her studio apartment this last week and i was in the mood to make something for her. so i ran to the local craft store, busy bee, and got my creative juices flowing. ok, so i copied a project there, but i still made it! that counts for something right?! it was way easy to make, and since i have gotten more stuff to make more of these. feast your eyes on this...

i also got to do something that i haven't done since like 7th grade home-ec class... SeW! i sewd something! an apron to be exact! i was so stinkin' excited! my amazing mother helped me. there is no way i could have done this on my own. so thanks, mom, for all your help! (even if we did cut the fabric wrong ;-)! i found this fabric and the instructions at the local fabric shop. yEs, lyman has a fabric shop, hard to believe i know! it's a great little place though. so here is my very first apron.... (and it's reversible!)

ok so i know that some of you may be wondering about my husband and my little one... well they are great! tony is working his last graveyard tonight (five in a row, blah!) jaxon is passed out in my bed. poor thing was so tired! he played really hard today at grandpa lynn's while i was at work and tony way sleeping. but right now i have to be done, my head is pounding so hard, and i haven't gone to bed before like 11:30 pm like the last four nights. so remind me to get back on the stick and update about tony and jax. sorry :(

Busy bee indeed! I am impressed with all your craftyness - definitely an area that I need help in. And I could really go for the cake you took a picture of! Mmmmmm. Not to mention the restaurants you mentioned - basically I just want to eat the food and not cook it cause smells right now?....bleh. Sounds like you had a great birthday. I add my very belated birthday wishes!

Sounds like you've been busy. This is Kim (Lisa's sis in law) in case you aren't sure who this crazy person is posting on your blog. Anyway, we've moved to Wyoming. Can't quite talk Joe and Lisa into it yet though, lol. We are up in Pinedale and loving it so far.
